DayPlanner ("the App") is developed by Sean Brady. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information.
DayPlanner is designed with privacy as a core principle. DayPlanner has no server of its own. Your plans and conversations are stored on your device, and the AI runs on your device. We do not collect data for our own purposes, and we do not share your information with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics providers. If you allow Location access, the App sends your location to Apple Maps to find nearby places and, if you use the assistant, to look up the name of your neighborhood and city (or just your city), which it gives to the assistant on your device. If you allow Calendar access, the App also reads your calendar on your device — to show your events in the Calendar tab and when the assistant checks your plans for conflicts — and adds plans to your calendar only after you confirm in the App. Both are described below.
The App stores the following data locally on your device to provide its functionality:
Your itineraries and conversations are stored on your device. DayPlanner has no server and does not send them to one. They can leave your device only in these ways: they are included in your device backups (iCloud Backup, a computer backup, or Time Machine on a Mac) if you use them; itinerary stops you add to your calendar are saved in that calendar and sync wherever your calendar account syncs; an itinerary you share with Share Itinerary goes wherever you send it; and place searches and location lookups are sent to Apple Maps as described under Location. Deleting the App removes this data from your device. It does not remove copies in existing backups or events already added to your calendar.
The App may request access to the following device capabilities:
Both permissions are optional. The App will ask before accessing these features, and you can revoke access at any time in Settings. Turning off a permission stops new access but does not delete information already saved in your conversation history. Start a new conversation, or use Delete Conversation History in Settings, to delete it.
Starting with version 1.1.1, each message you send to the assistant begins with a short note added by the App and not shown in the chat. It gives the current date and time, and the name, place and date of the plan the assistant is working on, if there is one. If you allow Location access, it also gives the neighborhood and city you are in (or just the city) when the App can find them; if you don't, it says your location isn't shared, and the assistant asks you where to plan when it needs a place you haven't named. Because this note is part of the conversation, your saved conversation can keep a record of where you were each time you sent a message, until you start a new conversation (the ↺ button in Chat, or Delete Conversation History in Settings) or delete the App. If the assistant creates a plan for where you are, that plan's location is your neighborhood and city (or just your city), and it stays with the plan until you delete the plan. If you have never sent a message to the assistant, no location information is saved.
If you have already allowed Calendar access, the assistant may check your plans against your calendar for conflicts, on its own or when you ask. When it does, DayPlanner reads the titles and times of your existing calendar events for that day and includes them in the on-device request it passes to Apple Intelligence, so the assistant can check your itinerary against your calendar. If you have not allowed Calendar access, the assistant cannot read your calendar and does not ask for access to check for conflicts. The assistant adds plans to your calendar only after you confirm in the App. This uses on-device models only; no external server is involved in this step. Because the conversation, including the calendar details the assistant looked up, is saved as part of your conversation history, calendar event titles and times the assistant looked up may be retained in the saved conversation transcript on your device, in the same way as the rest of your chat history described above.
The assistant's AI model runs entirely on your device. Your conversations are never sent to a server for AI processing and are never used to train AI models. When the assistant searches for places, the search text — and, for searches near you, your location — is sent to Apple Maps, as described under Location.
The App uses the following Apple platform services:
The App does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
DayPlanner is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 beyond what is described above for all users of the App.
If this Privacy Policy is updated, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
